EXPERT TALK: IMPORTANCE OF NON- VIOLENCE COMMUNICATION BY  DR. SUMAN KHANNA AGGARWAL

The Gandhian Centre of Peace Studies & Non-Violent Communication of Asian Law College hosted an expert talk On March 14, 2024, on the topic of “The importance of non-violent communication” for all the students of B.A. LL.B. and LL.B. courses. The expert talk aimed at imparting crucial knowledge to students about its role in everyday life. The session featured Dr. Suman Khanna Aggarwal, a former Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Delhi, and the Founder and President of Shanti Sahyog – A Gandhian NGO, and the Shanti Sahyog Centre for Non-Violence in India.

The session commenced with a warm welcome from Ms. Divyasha Dubey, Program Chair for B.A. LL.B, extending gratitude to the esteemed speaker. Dr. Aggarwal’s lecture focused on the relevance of non-violent communication as a means to resolve conflicts in daily interactions and relationships. She underscored the principles of Shanti Sahyog, illustrating how Gandhian philosophy can be practically applied to resolve disputes amicably. This lecture was particularly beneficial for students enrolled in the Gandhian Centre for Peace Studies and Non-Violent Communication at the Asian Law College, in collaboration with Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, New Delhi. Dr. Aggarwal’s insights into the practical application of non-violent communication provided these students with valuable tools for managing conflicts and fostering peaceful resolutions in both their professional and personal lives. By emphasizing the principles of non-violent communication, Dr. Aggarwal helped equip the students with a deeper understanding of its importance, aligning with Gandhian values of peace and non-violence.

This expert talk was instrumental in shaping the students’ perspectives on conflict resolution and communication. It reinforced the importance of non-violent approaches in maintaining harmony across various aspects of life.
