YOUTH PARLIAMENT 2024

Eco Club of Asian Law College organized the Youth Parliament 2024 on 17th October, 2024 upon the agenda “Mandatory Green Tax on Purchase of Diesel and Petrol Vehicles in India and Limited Vehicle life permit”. The competition had witnessed a large participation of students from both B.A.LL.B and LL.B. Batches. The students had nominated themselves to the committee of All India Political Party Meet and were allocated various portfolios of the political parties active in India.

The Youth Parliament was conducted across various classrooms, with esteemed judges including Associate Professor- Dr. Richa Sharma, Dr. Shweta Singhal, Dr. Onkarnath as well as Assistant Professors – Dr. Aarti Gupta, Dr. Priyanka Arora, Dr. Waseen Makkai, Dr. Akhilesh Singh, Ms. Shruti Pandey, Ms. Ankita Sharma. and Ms. Akansha Jaiswal. The event started with the Leader of the House presenting the opening statement that also faced strong opposition as the delegates opposed with strong points on the criticisms of the agenda. The competition had imbibed a mock parliamentary session represented by the participants to support their party members and were raising objections through slogans, tapping on the table, hooting etc. against the opposition. The contention of the representatives of the allotted parties addressed various portfolios to inculcate a healthy culture of debate surrounding “Mandatory Green Tax”. The Executive members played an important role in facilitating healthy discussion and maintaining the decorum of the house. The delegates made a closing statement in response to their opinion statement concerning the agenda before the Press release.

The event concluded with the valedictory session followed by the glimpses of the event and announcement of the final result for the position of Best Parliamentarians and Best Speakers. The event was successfully conducted with the aim of fostering leadership qualities, providing a platform for meaningful discussion on national issues in a structured forum, and offering students a valuable insight into the functioning of Parliament.
