VISIT TO GANDHI SMRITI AND DARSHAN SAMITI ON THE 155th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MAHATMA GANDHI

On the occasion of the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti organized an Interfaith Prayer Meet on October 2nd, 2024. The Faculty and Students of Asian Law College, Noida were invited to attend the same. Dr. Prity Sharma, Head of Students Welfare (DSW) of Asian Law College, Mr. Shivam Jaiswal and Dr. Ambri Sharma, Assistant Professors along with the students attended the prayer meet. The meet was organized at Gandhi Smriti, New Delhi. The event was organized to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi and cherish his values. For the same, 15 Dharma gurus belonging to different religions and sects, like Buddhist and Jain order, Judaism, Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, etc., marked their presence at the event. The sequence of prayers was joined by young children who marked their presence by singing those ‘Bhajans’ which used to be very close to Bapu’s heart.

This gathering also had the august presence of High Ambassadors of different embassies, along with the distinguished presence of Mr. Shombi Sharp, United Nations Representative to India. In his address, he paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by upholding his principles of ‘Non-violence and Truth’. This was followed by the arrival of Padma Shri awardee Sonu Nigam, who offered his homage to the Father of the Nation. After taking the center stage, Mr. Nigam brought life back to all those spiritual bhajans which Mahatma Gandhi used to sing during his morning routine. Towards the end of the evening, the meeting was graced by the arrival of honorable Vice- President of India- Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar. After paying tribute to Gandhi ji, he took his time and became a part of the ‘bhajan sandhya’.

The gathering was brought to an end with the address of Dr. Jwala Prasad, Director- GSDS. In his vote of thanks, he offered his gratitude to all the Dharma Gurus, Ambassadors, distinguished guests and participants for being a part of the evening. This event was a wonderful opportunity for the student and the faculty members who wish to cherish and relive the Gandhian principles.
