Asian law college, Noida organized The Social change maker championship 2024 on 21st September 2024 for the new Batch of B.A.LL.B and LL.B. 2024. The event was graced by the chief guest and the judge, Mr. Devendra Kumar, founder & Chief innovation officer of LADLI FOUNDATION. Mr. Kumar, is also a noted policy analyst, social innovator, public speaker, and a passionate volunteer. The event also saw the esteemed presence of Asian Education Group (AEG) Directors—Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Dr. Saurabh Sharma, Dr. Gurdeep Singh Raina along with the Deans, Heads of Departments, and faculty members.
The event began with presentations from students. From a range of submissions, five finalists were selected for their outstanding work: Dhairya Bhatt, Ahmad Faaras, and Vidisha Bhattacharya from the B.A. LL.B Batch of 2024, along with Apoorva Yadav and Chitranshi from the LL.B Batch of 2024. All five finalists presented their presentations on a variety of pressing social issues, including the challenges of the global food system, gender-specific laws and their misuse, the impact of social media on mental health and self-esteem, and the need for digital detoxification. One finalist, in particular, highlighted her project, “Basti Pathshala,” which focuses on promoting hygiene, improving housing conditions, and advancing education in slum areas. Another presentation addressed the ongoing and dangerous practice of manual scavenging. Out of these remarkable presentations, Vidisha Bhattacharya of the B.A.LL.B Batch of 2024 emerged as the winner for presenting the remarkable presentation on Manual Scavenging and different ways to eradicate the same. She was awarded a trophy, an Apple iPad along with the prestigious title. She will also advance to the finale of the Social Change Maker Champion of the Year 2025. Vidisha’s mentor, Ms. Ishani Vaidya, Assistant Professor of Law at ALC, was also recognized with a token of appreciation.
The event was addressed by the Chief guest & judge Mr. Devendra Kumar, who encouraged and motivated the students by his success story, area of work and expertise. He encouraged the students to adopt a proactive approach and answered their questions during an engaging Q&A session. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and appreciation for the participants and the students who witnessed this event.
