To make students conversant with the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws, Asian Law College organized a guest lecture in theatre hall at ALC, Noida, on November 14, 2017. The eminent speaker for the session was Mr. Sanjay Maria who brilliantly highlighted the lacunae in the earlier laws like DFR, SARFEASI, SICA Acts etc and told about new measures of the Government. After bridging the gap between theory and practise, he talked about the operationalization of National Company Law Tribunal in which he highlighted that the organization has 14 days to take decision; appointment of insolvency professional; case can be filed in the registered office of the company; all courts are over-ridden by NCLT (even Indian Companies Act). Mr. Maria elucidated the exceptions like Financial Service Providers, CIRP Companies etc and the role of shareholders in the company, which is minimal according to NCLT Act.
The session proved to be a great learning experience for all the participants and at the end a vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Tarun Pratap Yadav.
