Dr. Isha Tamta

Dr. Isha Tamta is an Assistant Professor of History at Asian Law College. She holds a Ph.D. in History from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University and specializes in Modern and Social History. Her research examines caste, society, and social mobility in colonial and modern Uttarakhand, with a particular focus on marginalized communities, folk traditions, and identity formation. She is the author of Casting Collective Ethnic Identities: Emergence of Shilpkars in Colonial Kumaon, 1815–1947, a monograph funded by the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR). Her work has been published in Scopus-indexed and UGC- CARE listed journals, including contributions with Sage and Routledge. As a recipient of the ICHR Junior Research Fellowship in 2017, she has presented her work at numerous national and international conferences.
