Asian Law College, Noida organized the Legal Lecture Series, Season 9 on October 8, 2024, for the students of B.A. LL.B. 2020 B.A.LL.B 2021, LL.B. 2022 and LL.B. 2023 Batches. The topic of the session was “Business Ethics – Compliances in Food Laws, Intellectual Property, Data Privacy and Consumer Protection” by Adv. Dhwani Rao, Associate General Counsel Nestle India Ltd. The session aimed to unmask the complexities that exist in corporate litigations and to educate the students with the technicalities of the legal profession especially in relation to business ethics and privacy.
The session was graced with the presence of Mr. Ashish Bhardawaj, Assistant Dean of Asian Law College, Mr. Pawan Yadav, HOD, Corporate Resource Cell, Program chairs of B.A. LL.B and LL.B Course, Faculty members and the students. The session commenced with a warm welcome of the esteemed guest by Mr. Ashish Bhardawaj. The learned counsel started the session with the discussion on the criteria such as product labelling, displaying information and other essentials statutorily required on packaging of products for compliance with the legal norms as well as consumer protection. She explored the true meaning, scope and ambit of the term “digital privacy” especially after the pronouncement of judgement in the landmark case of Justice K.S. Puttaswamy v. Union of India. Furthermore, she shared her experience of working in the legal industry to motivate the students to choose corporate litigation as their future endeavor. This was followed by the Q/A segment in which the students asked the questions related to the same field. Students actively participated and interacted with the learned in-house counsel and comprehended the legal aptitude required to serve corporate clients.
The session concluded with Mr. Pawan Yadav, HOD-Corporate Resource Cell, expressing gratitude and presenting a memento to the esteemed in-house counsel in recognition of her invaluable insights and expertise shared with the students. This event fostered an enriching exchange of ideas and perspectives, significantly enhancing the students’ knowledge.
