WORKSHOP ON INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom!

The Centre for Skill Development organized a workshop on International Yoga Day, on June 21, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, specifically for the teaching and non-teaching staff. The event was coordinated by Dr. Ambri Sharma, Assistant Professor, and featured Ms. Ruma Gayatri Tomar, Mindfulness and Life coach, certified practitioner, and Divine Meditation as the Guest of Honour.

The theme for International Yoga Day 2024, “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” or “One Earth, One Family, One Future,” emphasized the holistic and inclusive nature of yoga. The workshop aimed to promote overall development through yoga and meditation, aligning with the principles outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which highlights the importance of these practices in teacher training.

Ms. Ruma Gayatri Tomar, a life coach, began the session by introducing the significance of meditation and mental health. She explained the concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, stressing the interconnectedness of all beings and the significance of collective consciousness in fostering global harmony. Ms. Tomar elucidated the philosophical underpinnings of this concept, discussing how our thoughts, actions, and energy influence the collective consciousness. She also introduced participants to the concepts of energy, vibrations, and frequency within a spiritual context.

The practical segment of the workshop included three meditation exercises. The first exercise, “Dissolving Self-Limiting Beliefs,” lasted for 10 minutes and focused on helping participants release negative thought patterns. The second exercise, “Controlling the Mind,” was a 5-minute session aimed at enhancing mental discipline. The final exercise, “Tapping into Your Highest Potential,” was a 10-minute practice designed to help participants align with their highest potential through spiritual practices.

Ms. Tomar concluded the workshop by thanking the participants and encouraging them to continue their journey toward higher consciousness and self-realization. The event concluded with Dr. Shweta Batra, Associate Professor and Dean-Examinations, presenting a memento to Ms. Tomar and a vote of thanks by Dr. Ambri Sharma. The workshop successfully highlighted the importance of yoga and meditation as essential life skills and their relevance in the modern educational framework.
