Workshop on Criminal Psychology

The Legal Aid Centre of Asian Law College, established in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, Gautam Budh Nagar was delighted to organize a Workshop on Criminal Psychology by a renowned criminal psychologist, counsellor, social activist and advocate, Ms. Anuja Trehan Kapur.  The workshop was organised for the students to understand the relationship between law and criminal psychology.

The workshop began with a powerful address by the eminent speaker, Ms. Anuja Trehan Kapur, who enlightened the students on various institutions that offer a degree or a course in Criminal Psychology in both India and abroad. She told the students about the career paths that one can take by pursuing a degree in Criminal Psychology. She was further guided for the moderated session where the questions related to her life and her journey in this profession was asked by the moderator. Some of the prominent questions were related to her first case as a criminal psychologist, her NGO ‘Nirbhaya Ek Shakti’, her experience in doing criminal profiling of some of the prominent cases like Sushant Singh Rajput’s case, Sunanda Pushkar’s case and Arushi Murder Case and her views on Restorative Justice. The forum was then open for the students and faculties to ask questions. Many students including few faculties also asked her questions relating to the recent Aftab Poonawala case, Nirbhaya Case, the personality traits of Paedophiles and narcissist. The students were enthralled and exited throughout the session.

The session was both inspiring and motivating. The workshop helped the students to understand about the different avenues that one can pursue after a degree in law. The session also stimulated the students to think about pursuing criminal psychology as a career option.
