“A Right Delayed is Right Denied”- Martin Luther King Jr.

Our rights give us a voice and we need to utilize them and not waste them. Dignity, Freedom and Justice is the slogan that we Indians are raising to ensure Equal Rights for Everyone irrespective of any discrimination whatsoever.

Asian Law College (ALC) is elated to organize a One – Day Training Programme on “Protection of Human Rights of Transgender” in Collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission on 11th April 2023, Tuesday. To make our Human Rights effective, let’s learn “about” our Human Rights and ‘for” our Human Rights”. We express our gratitude to Naaz Joshi, India’s First Transgender International Beauty Queen, A Trans Right Activist and Motivational Speaker, who will grace us with the esteemed presence in the inaugural session. The workshop will be an illumination for understanding the target aspects of human rights with special reference to Transgenders. It will emphasize the discrimination they are facing in terms of loss of livelihood, respect and dignity, which are primal and important to the sustainability of a human as enshrined in our Indian Constitution. The workshop is a tool to comprehend targeted discrimination and recognizing the non – binary sexual orientation who took a difficult step forward in making efforts and impact in the socio-legal field for the same. It is an optimistic and analytical event for the students to understand the existing legislative framework in place for the transgenders and also an insight into the various landmark judgements of opinions and guidelines from our legal courts. This will make them not only understand the lacunae that persists and what is the way forward to overcome it and make a harmonious and dignified place. The training program will be covering the areas like Introduction to Sexual orientation and other categories under LGBTQ+, Current legislative framework – Transgender Person (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 and its implications, Transgender persons at the focus and Transgenders’ human rights jurisprudence through judicial interpretation. Asian Law College is looking forward to have a healthy, inspiring and informative training program for the students.
