LIBERTY TALKS: SPEECH COMPETITION

Liberty is an indispensable facet of the Indian Constitution. Without liberty, life of

a human being will be reduced to mere animal existence.

Asian Law College, Noida, under the aegis of Pro Bono Club, affiliated to the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, organized “Liberty Talks: A Speech Competition” on 28th September 2023.

The primary objective was to honor and acknowledge students who excel in both speech and thought concerning the central theme of “Liberty.” By focusing on this theme, the competition aimed to encourage participants to delve into the depth and breadth of liberty—its implications, significance, and the ways it shapes our society, governance, and individual lives.

The participants were challenged to articulate their thoughts effectively, highlighting the paramount importance of liberty in a democratic and just society. The students engaged with thought-provoking topics related to fundamental freedoms and liberty. The implications of the Uniform Civil Code on liberty were the most favored among the young minds. The students left no stone unturned in sharing their best of knowledge confidently on various topics such as self-determination gender, neutrality, liberty to abortion, data privacy, liberty plus democracy, live-in relationships, and the like.

In the end, after careful evaluation, the First position was jointly held by Shubhi Agarwal and Pushkar Bhardwaj of B.A.LL.B 2023 Batch, second position was secured by Ashutosh Srivastava B.A.LL.B 2019 and Third position was secured by Jayeeta Mandal B.A.LL.B 2022, showcasing exceptional mastery over the theme of “Liberty” with a commendable presentation and insightful discourse on the topic.

Despite the tough competition, the students exhibited great fervor and poise in their respective presentations. The students showed great fervour in their respective presentations and were poised while they answered confidently the judges’ questioning as well. The competition concluded successfully, leaving an indelible mark on all participants and attendees, encouraging further engagement and exploration of crucial themes related to liberty and fundamental freedoms.
