In order to help the new legal brains currently enrolled as students with Asian Law College the Moot Court Society of Asian Law College (ALC) organized a full day session of all batches of Asian Law College with the Manupatra expert on 17.10.2018.
Manupatra is a search engine which helps the students, professionals, academicians to search for relevant case laws, case comments, latest judgements of Supreme Court and High Courts. The search engine plays a vital role in case of Moot Court competitions wherein law students are expected to argue on a hypothetical preposition circulated as moot problem. The search engine helps the students to search, interpret and relate the decided case laws of hon’ble courts with their Moot problem. The relevant case laws helps to add persuasive effect in the argument in a Moot court competition. Maupatra has a wide range of cases available along with case commentaries, case observations and various articles on recently decided judgements of Supreme court and various High Courts.The use of search engine makes the students of law technologically sound and can be seen as an important step towards creating digital courts and a significant contribution in the up gradation of the court procedure.
The session helped the students of Asian Law College to understand the basic usage of Manupatra, how to work on it, how to search case laws, how to find case commentaries, role of various articles in arguing a case. Each and every students was
given due attention individually and after the expert gave a brief presentation, all the students were made to sit on computer and a practical demo was carried out by the expert in order to convert the theory input into practical output.
The Moot court society of Asian Law College acquainted all the students of Asian Law College with the search engine which will help the students throughout their legal career once they finish their classroom program and enter the professional arena. The session will equally help the students in their academic journey as the use of the search engine will improvise the quality of arguments of the students of Asian Law College when they participate and perform in various Moot Court Competitions.
