Asian Education Group (AEG) held its much sought-after mega annual inter-college sports meet – ATHLEEMA 2019-Season 7 – from 13th to 15th March 2019 at the Jasola Sports Complex, New Delhi with its traditional punch of excitement and grandeur.
Like the earlier years, the sports meet sought participation from colleges, institutes and universities from across the country. In all, 35 top colleges and universities enthusiastically participated in this sports spectacle. As far as Asian Law College was concerned, it also participated in the high-pitch sports’ meet along with other two Asian Education Group colleges, namely, Asian Business School (ABS) and Asian School of Business (ASB).
As the ATHLEEMA-Season 7 was dedicated to the martyrs of Pulwama attack, the gathering of the students observed a two-minute silence to commemorate the martyrs to start with. Thereafter, the Inaugural function on 13th March 2019 commenced with the torch-lighting ceremony, ignited by the Directors AEG, i.e., Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Mr. Saurabh Sharma and Mr. Gurdeep Singh Raina. After this, the directors inspired the team with powerful speeches.
While Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava (Director, AEG) inspired the participants with his encouraging speech, Mr. Saurabh Sharma (Director, AEG) motivated the participants to inculcate the sportsmanship not just on the ground but also in their personal lives. Again, Mr. Gurdeep Singh Raina (Director, AEG) fostered the participants’ energy and Dr. Saleem Akhtar (Director, ALC) evoked the students to be true and honest in their actions.
The games in which competitions were held included Cricket, Volleyball (Boys/ Girls), Basketball (Boys/ Girls), Football, Table Tennis, Tug-O-War, Badminton, Chess, Carrom, Athletics (Shot Put & 100m Race), Kabaddi (Boys/ Girls), Kho-Kho (Boys/ Girls), and Pool.
Following two days of intense competitions at Jasola Sports Complex on 13th & 14th March 2109, the grand Valedictory function for ATHLEEMA-Season 7 was held on Friday, 15th March 2019 at the AEG campus in Noida to felicitate students for their exemplary performance and zealous participation at the games. Prizes were given away by the well-known international media personality and AEG President, Dr Sandeep Marwah who aptly complimented and applauded the winners.
Season 7 ATHLEEMA 2019 saw the constitution of a very special award – viz. ‘Sportsperson of the Year Award’ for boys and girls separately – with a view to spur the students into adopting sports earnestly. This coveted award carries the prestige of being given to a student who stays exceptionally active in all quarters of events and activities throughout the year and works towards team building and motivation. The proud recipients of this prestigious award for this opening year were Kritika Pagrotra of ABS and Pranshu Tanwar of ALC in the female and male category respectively. The valedictory function came to a close with the vote of thanks delivered by Mr Ravi Sharma, Dean-CRC, Asian Business School.
Overall, the 7th annual sports meet ATHLEEMA 2019 turned out to be a huge success and left behind a trail of great memories and achievements for LLB and BA LLB students of Asian Law College to cherish for a long time. The students of Asian Law College participated in number of sports and gave commendable performance. The Students were motivated to adopt “Never give Up” approach in their professional life as well and to strive hard for success irrespective of the degree of difficulty. The rigorous academic environment at Asian Law College was given a healthy break by this annual sports meet Athleema 2019 .
