Making the session outright interactive, he asked them to vote on ‘Chat’ whether they wished to be “a Change-Maker or a Change-Taker”. Having got an overwhelming response that they wanted to be the “Change-Maker”, Mr. Rajiv Khurana congratulated the students and asked them to become volunteers in this movement of change and good health.
Thereafter, Mr. Rajiv Khurana introduced Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Kumar, Co-Founder Trustee-Lung Care Foundation, Chairman-Centre for Chest Surgery and Director-Institute of Robotic Surgery, Sri Ganga Ram Hospital to take on the centre-stage of this interactive session by answering a barrage of questions put forward by students and their parents on the topic of the day, viz., ‘Coronavirus: Situation Today and The Way Forward’.
Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Kumar answered the opening question on the current Coronavirus pandemic status in India by saying that “though the pandemic had brought the world to halt, the leadership in India had taken the right action at the right time and the lockdown had allowed the healthcare facilities to prepare themselves better to take on the rising cases which, fortunately, was restricted to only a few major cities in the country.” He further said that “there was need for caution, but there was no need to panic.”
Before long, there was a whole series of other questions like “Who are at the biggest risk of vulnerability to contract this disease?”, “What are the symptoms of this disease?”, “How to isolate/self-quarantine oneself at home if found to be suffering from the disease?”, “Does naturopathy help in fighting this disease?”, “What is the usefulness of the medicine ‘Hydroxychloroquine’ in treating/fighting this virus?”, “What are some of the myths about Coronavirus that one must be aware of?”, “Is there any damage to any body system after recovery from this disease?”, “Is the app ‘Aarogya Setu’ meaningful in this fight?”, “Should schools/colleges be opened now?”, “Why doctors are getting infected?”, “Is there a connection between air pollution level and spread of Coronavirus pandemic?”, “What are the precautions to be taken regarding things related to home kitchen?”, and “Are there any preventive measures against this disease?”
Taking up each of these questions, Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Kumar offered the most convincing and knowledge-backed answers worth a million dollars, so to say, which, if followed in letter and spirit, is sure to make us win against this unprecedented onslaught of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.
Towards the end, in his closing words, Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Kumar thanked Asian Law College for giving them an opportunity to connect with students & their parents and invoked the students to remember these health advisories and educate and spread the message further into the society, especially through the powerful medium of social media, so that the society at large gets benefited by these correct scientific insights and optimistic approach to defeat the Coronavirus pandemic.
