Asian Law College Wins The Best PIL Draft in the National PIL Drafting and Pleading Competition

Asian Law College is elated to share that its students Ranjeet Saw of batch B.A.LL.B. 2020- 25 and Riktika of batch LL.B. 2021- 24 have been adjudged as the Winner of the Best PIL Draft in the National PIL Drafting and Pleading Competition which was organized by Increasing Diversity By Increasing Access to Legal Education (IDIA) in collaboration with Dua Associates and Your Legal Career Coach (YLCC).

Increasing Diversity By Increasing Access to Legal Education (IDIA) is a nationwide movement to empower underprivileged and marginalized communities by creating top quality lawyers from within. Founded by legal academician, late Prof. (Dr.) Shamnad Basheer it runs on the backbone of more than 600 passionate student volunteers spread across India. IDIA is premised on the notion that access to premier legal education empowers marginalised communities by creating exceptional lawyers and community leaders from within.

Public interest litigation (PIL) being one of the most indispensable part of our legal system. The competition aimed at giving the young legal minds an opportunity to understand the practical dynamics of PIL. PIl being a unique gift to the general masses and is seen as an effective tool to address the Courts when the general interest of masses is at stake. It is a revolutionary medium to assist in the delivery of justice. The judicial activism which the country has witnessed through PILs has been commendable and many unconventional areas of law were given attention through these PIL.

The competition witnesses almost 100 participants from all across the country and from reputed law institutions. The students of Asian Law College (ALC) have successfully competed with some of the best available young legal minds across the country through this competition and have finally brought laurels to the institute. The practical and pragmatic approach to legal education which is followed by Asian Law College, makes it a distinct institution of law dedicated to the overall development of its students.
