Speaking on the occasion of Day 3 of the ALC Orientation Programme 2021, Mr. Lavanya Chandan shared snippets from his personal transition from ‘CAMPUS TO CORPORATE’.  He said, “As a student of law, I had no clues about ‘In House Counsel‘. It came up later as a challenging opportunity which I willfully accepted. What I can surely tell you today is that, while you are in college, absorb all the information, chew over it, and you just got to work hard.  Opportunities will come your way, and you can make your choice as per your interests and inclinations.”

Talking about the role of an ‘In House Counsel‘, Mr. Chandan explained, “There are different ways people perceive this role. There are some who treat them as a business person, while others see them as lawyers. In effect, they are the fire-fighters and risk-reducers who help the business grow. Opportunities that lie for an In House Counsel are the general business roles that can also culminate into their becoming the CEO of the particular company. In fact, In House legal opportunity is one of the biggest opportunities today! “

Before he concluded his brief but highly meaningful talk, Mr. Lavanya Chandan had some great words of advice for the students. To quote his words, he said, “Work hard while you are in college. Research, publish papers, do internships, participate in moot court activities … do all that you can to bolster your knowledge and experiences. Also remember, there is no one way to succeed. Different people succeed differently. Imbibe your lessons well, analyze the examples of successful people, and choose your career path accordingly.”
