ALC Orientation Program 2022 – The Social Change-Maker Championship

Asian Law College under the aegis of the Asian Education Group is organizing the orientation program for the batch of 2022 of B.A. LL.B. and LL.B. courses from 24th August, 2022 to 1st September, 2022. The purpose of this orientation program is for familiarizing the students with the college environment and helps them start their journey of learning and growth.

The second session of 26th August 2022 witnessed the presence of esteemed Chief Guest Mr. Anshu Gupta, Director- Goonj, popularly known as ‘The Clothing Man of India’ and judge for the finale of ‘The Social Change-Maker Championship’. The session started with a warm welcome and introduction of the Chief Guest and the directors of the Asian Education Group. Mr. Gupta was requested to grace the session by sharing his view and experiences with the Students. Mr. Gupta humbly addressed the audience and shared a video presentation with them to give a brief introduction of his foundation ‘Goonj’. His foundation has been working for needy people especially those who have no clothes to survive in extreme winters and many of them or their loved ones die because of lack of clothing in the winters. The speaker shared the vulnerabilities in the society which led the homeless people to helplessness during the extreme weather conditions. After the address, the Master of Ceremony Ms. Garima Malhotra asked several questions on how the law students and legal professionals can bring the change in the society and what are the areas on which they need to work upon so that the responsibility of development of the country should not be solely let alone upon the Government. Mr. Gupta, humbly answered the questions which helped the students to ensure a vision for making the world a better place for the needy and helpless people by playing their part.

The session moved to the next segment of the Social Change Maker Championship, wherein eight finalists who were shortlisted presented their ideas for bringing social change in the society by focussing on a problem and suggesting the practical and workable solution for the same. All the participants enthusiastically presented the imminence of the problem and showcased through powerpoint presentations what should be done  to solve it so that the society can change and become a better place. At the end of the presentations, our Chief Guest declared Ms. Yoshita, Student of B.A. LL.B., as the winner of the championship for her presentation on the idea of spreading awareness for making people more responsible towards each other and she was awarded a certificate and trophy along with an apple i-pad. With this, the session was concluded with floating encouragement and enrichment in their wisdom for social causes.
