National Library Week: A time to honor the power of libraries to transform lives

Asian Law College, Noida celebrated the National Library Week 2024 from 14 November 2024 to 20 November 2024 organized by Gnosis Club in collaboration with the ALC Library. The main objective of this event was to promote literacy, foster a reading culture, and engage the reader community.

The Library Week event was graced with the presence of Mr. Ashish Bhardwaj, Associate Dean of Asian Law College, Mr. Amit Nagar, Program Chair LL.B., Ms. Divyasha Dubey, Program Chair of  B.A. LL.B., Faculty members, and the students. This week was an amalgamation of various kinds of events like book exhibitions by external publishers and other book distributors, online capacity-building workshops, essay competitions, book review competitions, etc. On the first day, 14 November 2024, and the last day, 20 November 2024 of library week organized a Book exhibition showcasing a wide range of books from various genres allowing visitors to explore new titles and authors by the National Book Trust, Ministry of Education, Government of India, and Zaffa Books Distributors respectively. On 15th November 2024 an online capacity-building workshop was also organized by Dr. S Nagaraja, Deputy Librarian of Regional Institute of Education Mysore, NCERT, Ministry of Education, Government of India with massive participation. On 18th November 2024, Asian Law College Library also showcased the Law Manuals which is an important reference book for law learners.

Another significant event during National Library Week was the Essay Writing Competition and Book Review Competition organized by the Gnosis Club of Asian Law College on 19th and 20th November 2024. The competition encouraged students to reflect on how libraries have impacted their lives, facilitated their learning, and contributed to the development of their communities. It was graced with the presence of Ms. Tanushree Shrivastava, Convener of the Training and Development Cell, Asian Education Group, Ms. Vaishali Upadhaya, Assistant Professor for Center for Skill Development, Asian Education Group, Faculty members and the students. The competition concluded with an interactive session between the judges and students, during which the judges complimented the participants for their outstanding individual performances.

The celebration of Library Week successfully achieved its goal of fostering a spirit of enhancing creative thinking and reinforced the idea that libraries are dynamic spaces that continue to inspire and shape minds, leaving participants and viewers with a memorable experience at Asian Law College. This event fostered an enriching exchange of ideas and perspectives, significantly enhancing the student’s knowledge. The competition encouraged participants to write comprehensive and engaging reviews, analyzing themes, character development, writing style, and the overall impact.
