Asian Law College (ALC), commenced its 10th Academic session by hosting a three-day Orientation Program from 25th to 27th August 2025, to formally welcome the new batch of students enrolled in the 5-year B.A. LL.B. and B.Com. LL.B., and 3-year LL.B. programmes.
Day One: Inaugural Session
The program commenced with an Inaugural Session marked by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, invoking the divine blessings. The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of our Chief Guest, Smt. Maneka Gandhi, renowned Indian politician, animal rights activist, environmentalist, and Chairperson of People for Animals (PFA), alongside Dr Sandeep Marwah, President of the Asian Education Group (AEG), Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director- AEG, Dr. Saurabh Sharma, Director-AEG, and Dr. Gurdeep Singh Raina, Director-AEG, who played pivotal roles in welcoming and inspiring the new students.
The inaugural session began with formal addresses from the Directors, AEG, each offering words of wisdom, encouragement, and motivation for the incoming law students. Their speeches set the tone for the rigorous academic journey ahead while reinforcing the core values of integrity, perseverance, and professionalism that the institution upholds. Following the Directors’ addresses, Smt. Maneka Gandhi delivered an insightful and motivational keynote speech, sharing her wisdom on the importance of being a good human being, along with her perspectives on animal rights and related concerns. In the presence of the dignitaries, the poster for the upcoming International Conference organized by the Research and Development cell, ALC, in collaboration with Kathmandu School of Law, Nepal, on the theme “Globally Changing Facets of Law: Dialogue Between Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary Approach” was released. As part of the session, Smt. Maneka Gandhi also personally signed copies of her book “Animal Laws of India.”
The day’s second session featured a fun-filled activity organized by the Centre for Skill Development (CSD), where students enthusiastically participated in the hula hoop game. This was followed by an equally engaging session featuring the esteemed Chief Guest Ms Laxmi Agarwal, Founder and President of the Laxmi Foundation and acid attack survivor. Her powerful words left the students with a deep sense of social responsibility and awareness of their role in society. She courageously shared her survival journey, her fight for victims’ rights, and the inspiring impact of campaigns such as ‘Stop Acid Sale’, while also advocating for stronger laws to regulate acid sales in India.
