MEGA EVENT-SOCIAL CHANGE MAKER CHAMPION OF THE YEAR 2024-25

Asian Law College, Noida, organized the Mega Event “Social Change-Maker Champion of the Year 2024-25” on 29th March 2025. This championship commenced with the vision of keenly focusing on social welfare and upliftment, providing a platform to all ALC students who, through their ideas and efforts, aim to sculpt society into a transformed and virtuous habitat for humanity., Amongst the several entries, seven students were able to reach the Grand Finale based on the social work carried out throughout the year.

The Grand Finale began with a warm welcome to the dignitaries, and the gathering was energized by the address of Directors of Asian Education Group (AEG) – Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava; Dr. Saurabh Sharma; Dr. Gurdeep Singh Raina; Dr. Komal Vig – Dean, Academics ALC and Mr. Ashish Bhardawaj, Associate Dean -Asian Law College (ALC) who hosted the event on behalf of the institute. The event was honored by the presence of the Inventor and Founder-CEO of Jayashree Industries, the Real Padman of India, PADMA SHRI, Dr. Arunachalam Muruganantham, who served as the chief guest and judge for the competition. The event progressed with compelling presentations by the students, effectively showcasing their societal contributions while sharing insights into their experiences, lessons learned, and future plans. The students actively participated in a wide range of social initiatives, including empowering women to earn with dignity, educating the underprivileged, promoting sanitation, teaching in slum areas, providing healthcare in those communities, volunteering in zones affected by garbage burning—including hazardous materials like wires—and advocating for and feeding stray animals, among many other impactful activities. The semi-finale was conducted on 25th March 2025 and was judged by eminent personalities who have dedicatedly contributed to society in their respective fields. From the numerous participants, seven students—Saurav Kumar, Varisha Rehman, Arpita Vohra, Ekta Trivedi, Furqan Ali, Rishi Shukla, Thangjam Mancy Chanu —successfully reached the Grand Finale.

The eagerly awaited moment arrived with the announcement of results by the dignitaries. Varisha Rehman from the B.A.LL.B Batch of 2023 emerged as the Social Change Maker Champion of the Year 2024-2025 for empowering women with skill development to earn and live with dignity in the society. She was awarded a social grant of Rs. 1 lakh, a shield and web presence. The esteemed guest, Dr. Arunachalam Muruganantham -The Padman — announced aid to support two student-led initiatives during the event. He declared resource assistance worth ₹1,00,000 to Furqan Ali for the production of face masks, and support valued worth ₹5,00,000 to Thangjam Mancy Chanu for the implementation of her proposed aid project. This announcement highlights a strong commitment to empowering young change makers and fostering social innovation. The event concluded with the felicitation of the esteemed guests. The judges commended the empathetic efforts of the students and the institution for organizing such a meaningful initiative, acknowledging the importance of fostering social awareness and responsibility.
