THE COMMONWEALTH ATTORNEY GENERALS AND SOLICITORS CONFERENCE CASGC 2024

The Commonwealth Attorney Generals and Solicitors Conference (CASGC), 2024 inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on the 3rd-4th of February, 2024 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The theme of the conference was “Cross-Border Challenges in Justice Delivery” and  deliberated on important issues pertaining to law and justice like judicial transition and the ethical dimensions of legal practice; executive accountability; and revisiting modern-day legal education, among others.

The event was graced by the Honourable President of India, Smt. Draupadi Murmu, and the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi, along with Supreme Court Judges, Ministers, and other eminent dignitaries. The conference was chaired by the Chief Justice of India, Dr. Justice D Y Chandrachud, Union Minister for Law and Justice, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Judge of Supreme Court of India, Mr. R. Venkataramani, Attorney General of India, Mr. Tushar Mehta, the Solicitor General of India.  This Conference witnessed the participation of Attorney Generals and Solicitors from the Commonwealth nations spanning the Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Caribbean along with various international delegations.The primary objective of the CASGC 2024 was to provide students with knowledge and facilitate open dialogue and collaboration among attorney generals, solicitors, and senior law officers from Commonwealth countries.

The Asian Law College was honored to attend this prestigious conference. Assistant Dean (ALC) Mr. Ashish Bhardawaj, Assistant Professor & Program Chair – B.A. LL.B, Ms. Divyasha Dubey, Assistant Professor of Law & Convener Examinations, Ms. Navdeep Kaur, Assistant Professor of Law, Ms. Vasvi Talwar, along with CRC team and ALC students were the representatives of the institution who explored various themes such as executive accountability and legal advocacy, technological advancements and legal dynamics, and access to justice. This conference served as a platform for meaningful discussions and cooperation among legal leaders from all 56 Commonwealth nations.

The CASGC 2024 concluded with the aim of fostering innovative solutions to enhance justice delivery in the respective countries of the Commonwealth and beyond. The conference’s open dialogue and collaborative approach were instrumental in addressing key legal challenges and promoting the exchange of ideas and best practices among the participating legal professionals. Through this event, students and legal practitioners gained valuable insights and contributed to the global discourse on justice and legal reform, underscoring the importance of unity and cooperation in the legal community across the Commonwealth.
