The Grand Finale of the flagship event of Asian Law College, "The Social Change-Maker Champion of the Year 2022–23", was successfully conducted on 30th November 2023, by the Legal Aid Centre established in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Gautam Buddha Nagar, and Pro Bono Club established under the Nyaya Bandhu Scheme, an initiative by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice at Asian Law College. Out of all the participants, only twelve students reached the set benchmark to qualify for the finale, based on the breadth and impact of the social work they had undertaken throughout the year.
The event was accorded extraordinary distinction by the presence of two eminent Chief Guests and Judges — the celebrated Ramon Magsaysay Awardee, Dr. Rajendra Singh, known with reverence as the "Jal Purush" — the Waterman of India, and Founder of Tarun Bharat Sangh (TBS), whose lifelong mission of water conservation and community empowerment has left an indelible imprint on Indian society; and Mr. Ripu Daman Bevli, Prime Minister Awardee, Founder of the Litter Free India movement, and Ambassador of the Fit India Movement, whose dedication to environmental awareness and civic responsibility continues to inspire millions across the nation. The event also witnessed the distinguished presence of the visionaries of Asian Education Group (AEG) and the academic leadership of Asian Law College, including Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director, AEG; Dr. Saurabh Sharma, Director, AEG; Dr. Gurdeep Singh Raina, Director, AEG; and Mr. Ashish Bhardwaj, Assistant Dean, ALC, who hosted the event on behalf of the institution.
The programme commenced with compelling presentations by the twelve finalists, each eloquently and passionately articulating their noteworthy contributions toward driving meaningful social change across a diverse range of causes. The presentations reflected originality, clarity, and a strong commitment to tackling pressing societal challenges, demonstrating the remarkable depth of social consciousness nurtured within the walls of Asian Law College.
After a comprehensive and rigorous evaluation by the distinguished panel, Apurwa Srivastava from the B.A.LL.B. 2020 Batch was crowned the "Social Change-Maker Champion of the Year 2022–23." She was honoured with a Social Grant of ₹1,00,000, a MacBook, a Trophy, and a prestigious digital and web presence, in recognition of her outstanding and impactful social contributions — a fitting tribute to a young leader who exemplifies the spirit of purpose-driven action and the enduring promise of youth-led social change.
