Nationals' Ranking and Mediation and Negotiation Competition

The Moot Court Committee, in collaboration with the Pro Bono Club at Asian Law College (ALC), successfully organized the "Nationals' Ranking and Mediation and Negotiation Competition" from 24th to 25th October 2024. The competition aimed to foster and enhance skills in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), particularly mediation and negotiation, among law students. By providing a platform for participants to engage in simulated legal disputes, the competition encouraged critical thinking, effective communication, and strategic problem-solving abilities. Additionally, the competition served as a platform for ranking participants to assess their capabilities and select the top-ranking teams to represent the institution in external competitions.

The event commenced with an inauguration ceremony on 24th October, officially marking the start of the competition. A remarkable 80 teams, divided into 8 dynamic groups, participated in the Preliminary Rounds, highlighting the breadth of talent among the student body and their enthusiasm for the competition. Each room simulated real-world mediation scenarios, with participants assuming the roles of both advocates and respondents. Co-mediators were strategically rotated to provide participants with exposure to various mediation techniques and to foster critical thinking.

Day 2 of the competition witnessed intense rounds, with the Top 8 teams being selected for the Quarter-Finals. This round saw teams competing in a knock-out format, showcasing their legal acumen and strategic thinking. Ultimately, the Top 4 Semi-Finalists emerged, each team displaying exceptional advocacy skills and a deep understanding of the legal issues at hand. The Final Round, held in the prestigious Moot Court Hall, was a thrilling contest between TC-71 and TC-77, with both teams delivering compelling arguments and insightful analysis.

The Nationals' Ranking and Mediation and Negotiation Competition concluded on a high note, showcasing the exceptional talent and dedication of the participants. The event provided a valuable platform for aspiring legal professionals to hone their skills in alternative dispute resolution. The active participation of students, the insightful contributions of the judges, and the dedicated efforts of the organizing team collectively ensured the event's resounding success.
