National Moot Court Competition 2020
Inaugurated by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Dipak Mishra, 45th Chief Justice of India
Asian Law College (ALC), a part of the Asian Education Group, successfully organized its "National Moot Court Competition 2020" on the theme of Constitutional Law on 16th–17th February 2020 at its Noida campus. The competition witnessed the participation of 24 teams and 72 participants from top law colleges and universities across the country, vying for honours in a competition marked by intellectual rigour and advocacy excellence. The event also witnessed the formal inauguration of the "ALC Judicial Coaching Academy" within the college precincts.
The Inaugural Ceremony was held on 16th February 2020, graced by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Dipak Misra, 45th Chief Justice of India, as the Eminent Guest, who delivered a highly enlightening inaugural address.
In his inaugural address, Hon'ble Justice Misra enlightened the audience with his erudition and the rich repertoire of his experience. Citing the lives of four great historical personages — Archimedes, Demosthenes, Newton, and Abraham Lincoln — he drew parallels between their core achievements and the fundamental tenets of legal education: the value of research, advocacy, intellectual humility, and ethical conduct, respectively. He further underscored the supreme importance of books, learning, and the accumulation of knowledge for aspiring law students. Justice Misra noted that "a student of law must stand against anarchy" and must always strive to uphold the national character of India throughout their career. Speaking specifically about the competition, he advised the students: "Never compare yourself with anyone in life; participate with patience and control over anger, and always remember that participation is in itself an achievement."
The competition effectively achieved its objective of enhancing advocacy, drafting, and research skills among participants, while providing a meaningful platform for aspiring legal professionals to engage with constitutional jurisprudence. The active participation of students, the insightful contributions of the distinguished guest, and the dedicated efforts of the Moot Court Committee collectively ensured the event's resounding success, reaffirming ALC's commitment to nurturing skilled, confident, and well-rounded legal professionals.
