Judgment Analysis Competition 2024

The Moot Court Committee at Asian Law College (ALC), successfully organized the "Judgment Analysis Competition" on 26th and 27th November 2024, in honor of Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas). The competition was designed to cultivate critical thinking and legal research skills among students by encouraging them to explore judicial reasoning and its societal implications. Serving as a dynamic platform for aspiring legal professionals, the competition enabled participants to sharpen their advocacy abilities, present well-structured arguments, and engage in meaningful academic discussions. Over the course of two days, the event not only celebrated the essence of the Constitution but also promoted analytical excellence and legal scholarship, leaving a profound impact on all who participated.

The Preliminary Round, held on 26th November 2024, witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of students across the B.A. LL.B. and LL.B. Batches. The participants were divided into four rooms for the initial assessment, where each presented their analysis of a recent landmark judgment selected from five given options, focusing on critical elements such as the facts of the case, issues raised, the ratio decidendi, and the judgment's societal impact. The students also offered their interpretations of how the judgment contributed to the evolution of constitutional jurisprudence. The Preliminary Round showcased high levels of intellectual rigor, as participants demonstrated their ability to dissect complex legal principles and present their insights cohesively. Based on their performance, eight participants were shortlisted for the Final Round.

The Final Round was conducted on 27th November 2024, in the Moot Court Hall, where the Top 8 finalists delivered outstanding presentations before an esteemed panel comprising Ashish Bhardwaj, Associate Dean, Asian Law College, and Prof. Dr. Md. Khalid, Professor, ALC. The panel evaluated participants on the articulation of legal arguments, depth of research, clarity of presentation, and their ability to connect analyses to broader constitutional principles. The judges engaged the finalists in a rigorous Q&A session, further challenging their understanding and reasoning.

After an impressive display of legal scholarship, the competition concluded with the announcement of the Best Judgment Analyst, who was honored with a trophy, a certificate of merit, and a mini–Bare Act of the Constitution of India. The Runner-Up was also felicitated with a certificate, marking the culmination of an intellectually enriching competition.

The competition effectively achieved its objective of promoting constitutional literacy and analytical thinking, serving as a fitting tribute to the spirit of the Constitution while reaffirming ALC's commitment to nurturing skilled and thoughtful legal professionals. The active participation of students, the insightful contributions of the judges, and the dedicated efforts of the organizing team collectively ensured the event's resounding success.
