The Legal Aid Centre at Asian Law College (ALC) organized a “Plantation Drive” on 28th February, 2026. The initiative was designed to instill a sense of environmental responsibility among students, encourage active participation in ecological conservation, and reinforce the institution’s commitment to sustainable development and green initiatives.
The drive witnessed an overwhelming and heartening response from the student community, with more than 60 students voluntarily contributing to the initiative. Students from various batches and programmes came together with enthusiasm and a shared sense of purpose, reflecting the strong culture of social responsibility and community engagement that ALC actively fosters among its members.
The Plantation Drive served as a practical and hands-on initiative that went beyond the confines of the classroom, allowing students to connect with environmental issues in a direct and meaningful way. Participants engaged actively in planting saplings, understanding the importance of green cover in combating rising pollution levels, and appreciating the role that individuals and institutions can play in addressing the growing environmental challenges faced by society today. The activity also provided students with an opportunity to reflect on the intersection of environmental law, constitutional obligations under Article 51A(g), and the fundamental duty of every citizen to protect and improve the natural environment.
The initiative was overseen by dedicated faculty members from the Legal Aid Centre, whose guidance and coordination ensured the smooth and successful execution of the drive. The collective effort of students, faculty, and organizers transformed the event into a powerful symbol of institutional responsibility and student-driven change. The Plantation Drive, 2026 concluded on an inspiring note, reaffirming ALC’s commitment to nurturing environmentally conscious and socially responsible legal professionals.
