NATIONALS’ RANKING AND MEDIATION AND NEGOTIATION COMPETITION

The Pro Bono Club in collaboration with the Moot Court Committee of Asian Law College organized Nationals’ Ranking and Mediation and Negotiation Competition between 24th- 25th October, 2024. The competition aimed to foster and enhance skills in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), particularly mediation and negotiation, among the law students. By providing a platform for participants to engage in simulated legal disputes, the competition encouraged critical thinking, effective communication, and strategic problem-solving abilities. Additionally, the competition also served as a platform for ranking the participants to assess their capabilities and select the top ranking teams to represent the institution in external competitions.

The event commenced with an inauguration ceremony on October 24, officially marking the start of the competition aimed at enhancing mediation and negotiation skills among aspiring law professionals. A remarkable 80 teams, divided into 8 dynamic groups, participated in the preliminary rounds, highlighting the breadth of talent among the student body and their enthusiasm for the competition and their potential to excel in the legal field. Each room simulated real-world mediation scenarios, with participants assuming the roles of both advocates and respondents. Co-mediators were strategically rotated to provide participants with exposure to various mediation techniques and foster critical thinking.

 

Day 2 of the Competition witnessed intense rounds, with the Top 8 teams being selected for the quarter-finals. This round saw the teams competing in a knock-out format, showcasing their legal acumen and strategic thinking. Ultimately, the Top 4 Semi-Finalists emerged, each team displaying exceptional advocacy skills and a deep understanding of the legal issues at hand. The final round, held in the prestigious Moot Court Room, was a thrilling battle between TC-71 and TC-77, with both teams delivering compelling arguments and insightful analysis.

 

The Nationals’ Ranking and Mediation and Negotiation Competition concluded on a high note, showcasing the exceptional talent and dedication of the participants. The event provided a valuable platform for aspiring legal professionals to hone their skills in alternative dispute resolution.
