Asian Law College organized CONCLAVE: Digital Dignity 3.0 in collaboration with Cyber Humane on 25th February 2025. This panel discussion focused on the theme: “Securing the Digital Frontier – Addressing Cyber Threats, Misinformation, and Privacy in the Age of AI Deepfakes and Global Surveillance.” This conclave aimed to bring together leading policymakers, legal experts, academicians, cybersecurity professionals, and technology leaders to explore these pressing concerns and develop strategies for a safer and more ethical digital future. The conclave featured insightful panel discussions with national and international experts, offering diverse perspectives on global data privacy frameworks.
The conclave commenced with an inauguration ceremony, featuring the traditional lamp lighting by esteemed dignitaries Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Chairman of Asian Education Group (AEG); Deepak Kumar Kedia, IPS Officer (Assam-Meghalaya Cadre); Justice Rajesh Tandon, Former Judge of Uttarakhand High Court; Diplomat Maya Sherman, Science & Technology Diplomat, IFS, AI Literacy Lead at GPAI-OECD, AI Policy Researcher, Advisor & Ethicist; Dr. Pradeep Rai, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India; Dr. Pavan Duggal, Advocate, Supreme Court of India; and Dr. Deepika Saini, Founder of Cyber Humane. Dr. Sandeep Marwah opened the session with his insights on AI, followed by the dignitaries sharing their perspectives on AI and cybersecurity. The event was also graced by Dr. Lalitya Vir Srivastava, Director-Asian Education Group (AEG), Ashish Bhardawaj Associate Dean, Asian Law College, along with faculty members.
The conclave was structured into three sessions, each led by industry experts covering various critical topics. The first session, titled “Navigating Innovation and Security: Legal and Ethical Dilemmas in the Era of AI, Deepfakes, and Global Surveillance,” featured esteemed panelists including Dr. Abhimanyu Chopra, Partner, AZB & Partner, Adv. Rohit Jolly, Partner, Hammurabi & Solomon Partners, Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Scientist, “E” MEITY, GOI, Adv. Ashish Kothari, Partner, Kochhar & Co., Harish Chandra Sharma Superintendent of Police, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Rtd., Adv. Mehak Rathee, High Court of Delhi as Moderator of the session. The Second session, titled “National Sovereignty and Security in the Digital Age: Combating Cyber Threats, Misinformation, And AI- Driven Risks” featured esteemed panelists including Dr. Deevanshu Shrivastava, founding Dean and Professor at GL Bajaj Institute of Law, Dr. Ivneet Kaur Walia: Registrar and Associate Professor of Law at RGNLU, Punjab, Dr. Apoorva Dixit, Assistant Professor- Senior Grade at GD Goenka University, Salman Qasmi, Doctoral Scholar (SRF) Indian Law Institute, New Delhi Convener- Commonwealth Legal Education Association- Asia and Dr. Nityash Solanki, Assistant Professor, Asian Law College as moderator of the session. The Third session, titled “Global Data privacy best practices: Insights from norway, France, the philippines, and india on enhancing digital security” Featuring Esteemed Panelist including Adv. Varun Pathak, Partner at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & co ( INDIA),Chetandeep S. Batra, Senior consultant, Big 4 IAPP Chapter Chair ( New Delhi), Tech Lawyer, Prof. Dr. Dominique Delporte Vermiren ( Partner at the house of Deep Tech, Deeptech diplomat, G20 WBAF Senator EU, France, Christina Amor Maclang, convener, Digital Pilipinas and International Digital Economic Association (IDEA) PHILIPPINES, Abhishek Ramawat, Managing Partner Tech Agrim (Norway), and Adv. Tanushri Kapoor, High court of India as moderator of the session.
The three sessions concluded with a closing ceremony, graced by Adv. Adish C. Aggrawala, Senior Advocate (AOR), Supreme Court of India, and Former President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, along with Adv. Vivek Sook, Senior Advocate (AOR), Supreme Court of India. They shared valuable insights on the critical aspects of AI, misinformation, and deepfakes.
The discussions explored the rising risks of AI-driven misinformation and deepfakes, assessing their impact on elections, media integrity, and public trust. Experts analyzed real-world cases and shared strategies for detection, regulation, and mitigation. Another key focus was global surveillance and its implications for privacy, democracy, and human rights. A highlight of Digital Dignity 3.0 was the interactive Q&A sessions, where participants engaged with cyber law and digital governance experts. The conclave provided a vital platform for students, professionals, and researchers to contribute to securing the digital ecosystem. Asian Law College successfully conducted and actively participated in this crucial dialogue, advocating for the ethical and responsible use of technology.
